Why Construction AI Can't Stop at the Inbox

The containment trap
Acknowledging an RFI email is not the same as closing the loop. A useful construction agent must carry context from the initial notice through drawings, specs, field photos, and system updates — often over days or weeks.
Inbox AI that stops at the first reply creates a new kind of handoff problem: the sender feels heard, but the operational work still lands in a queue for someone else to finish.
Multimodal by necessity
Project admin workflows span voice, email, PDFs, photos, portal uploads, and structured job data. Agents need to reason across all of these modalities — not transcribe one channel and hope a human connects the rest.
From response to closure
The workflow is complete only when the log is updated, the stakeholder is notified, the exception is visible to the PM team, and the audit trail is intact. That is the bar for production-grade construction AI.
